At the J1, you can talk openly about important issues and challenges that are bothering you without parents listening in.
J1 – Health check for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 14
As children grow into adolescents, their needs also change.
That’s why the adolescent health check-up (J1) is specially designed for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 14.
At this appointment, an adolescent doctor will talk to your child about important topics such as sexuality, skin problems, anorexia or obesity.
Social difficulties in the family or at school can also be addressed openly.
Bullying or domestic violence are serious problems that should not be ignored.
In addition to these social aspects, the physical health of young people is also checked.
Growth spurts can lead to deformities that should be corrected in good time.
We check the sensory functions, organs and the entire skeleton.
Blood and urine samples are also taken to round off the examination results.
The costs for the J1 are covered by your health insurance.
J2 – The last date for young people
The J2 offers young people the last opportunity to talk to the doctor who has ideally been with them for years.
This appointment can take place with or without parents.
Many teenagers feel more comfortable when mom and dad are not listening.
This makes it easier to ask questions about their own sexuality or other sensitive topics.
This creates an open dialog between the patient and the adolescent doctor.
We can talk again about topics such as nutrition, drug abuse or diabetes prevention.
We also take a look into the future together.
Are there any restrictions on career choices due to previous illnesses or allergies?
What about previous independence?
Is the young person able to look after themselves?
At J2, a physical examination is also carried out, including vision and hearing tests.
Similar to J1, patients provide blood and urine samples.
The adolescent doctor measures height and weight, listens to the lungs and heart and checks posture and any foot misalignments.
Many health insurance companies cover the costs of the J2, but not all of them.
Please find out in advance whether the costs will be covered and, if necessary, submit the relevant applications in good time.
